Cleavers

The Cleaver Kids program is all about having fun! 

Cleavers have always been a part of our club and they are an essential group of kids, our future members! Cleavers are between the ages of 6 to 8 and the goals of the program are a little different from 4-H members. 

The Cleaver program focuses on developing friendships and listening skills, developing a sense of belonging to the club and community and learning to set goals and celebrate achievements. 

We work on exposing the Cleavers to different project groups available in our club in an interactive way! 

This year we have gone fishing, baked yummy cookies, helped load bottles for the bottle drive, had a winter fun day, tried our hand at art and woodworking and made a variety of spring activities! 

It is wonderful to see new friendships form and watch the children grow as individuals! 

They tend to have their own meetings during the general meeting. 

They are welcome to choose a project to join as well, attending the monthly project meetings without the record book requirement. 

Sheep project Cleavers don’t join the sheep project meetings until March.  

Historically, our club has only accepted cleavers with the enrollment of an older sibling with club member status (Jr, Int, or Sr). 

Parents are required to assist in the cleaver room a couple times a year, sign up happens in the first general meeting.

 Parents with cleavers that find it hard to focus are encouraged to stay in the cleaver room each meeting to assist the volunteer leaders run a safe and fun meeting for our youngest future leaders.
